Itinerary
Day 1 – Marrakech – Tizi n’Tichka – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley
After pickup from your hotel, riad, or bus station in Marrakech, begin your journey through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260m.
Enjoy panoramic views of mountain villages and dramatic landscapes as you descend toward Telouet, once home to powerful Berber lords. Continue to the iconic Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most famous fortified villages, featured in many international films.
After lunch in Ait Ben Haddou or Ouarzazate, continue through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs toward the Dades Valley, where impressive rock formations and lush scenery await. Dinner and overnight stay in a traditional riad or hotel in Dades Gorges.
Day 2 – Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Desert
After breakfast, drive toward Todra Gorges, a dramatic limestone canyon with sheer cliffs rising up to 300 meters high, surrounded by palm groves and Berber villages.
Following lunch in the gorge area, continue east toward the Sahara Desert, passing through desert towns such as Tinjdad and Erfoud. Arrive in Merzouga, on the edge of the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes.
In the late afternoon, enjoy a memorable camel trek across the golden dunes, timed perfectly to witness a breathtaking desert sunset. Reach your desert camp, where you’ll enjoy dinner, Berber music under the stars, and an overnight stay in a traditional Sahara bivouac (with toilet facilities).
Day 3 – Erg Chebbi – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Ifrane – Fes
Wake early to watch the sunrise over the Sahara, a magical and peaceful moment. After breakfast and a shower at the camp, ride camels back to Merzouga and begin your journey north toward Fes.
Travel through the lush Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves and oasis landscapes. Stop for tea with a local nomadic family, offering insight into desert life.
Continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping for lunch in Midelt, located at the foot of Jbel Ayachi. Later, pass through the alpine-style town of Ifrane, known for its clean streets and cedar forests.
Arrive in Fes in the late afternoon or evening, marking the end of your Marrakech to Fes adventure.
