FAQ
Planning a trek, desert adventure, or cultural tour in Morocco raises a lot of questions. Our FAQ answers the most common and important queries from travelers just like you. From bookings and payments to safety, trekking tips, and cultural insights, here’s everything you need to know to make your Moroccan adventure safe, smooth, and unforgettable.
What is the best time of year to trek in Morocco?
Morocco offers trekking year-round, but the ideal seasons are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November). Temperatures are mild, snow is minimal on lower trails, and the desert is cooler for camel treks. Winter treks are also possible, especially in the High Atlas, but require mountaineering clothing and snow preparation.
Do I need prior hiking or climbing experience?
No professional experience is required for most treks. Our routes range from gentle day walks to multi-day climbs like Toubkal (4,167m). Guides adapt the pace to the group, and we provide mules or porters for equipment if needed.
What should I pack for a trek in Morocco?
Essentials include comfortable hiking boots, layered clothing, a warm jacket (for mountains/desert nights), sun protection, water bottles, and a small backpack. For desert trips, bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat. Optional items include trekking poles or a camera for breathtaking landscapes.
Are the tours suitable for families or children?
Yes! Many of our treks and day trips welcome children aged 10+ and offer family-friendly itineraries. We ensure safety, manageable walking distances, and accommodations suitable for families.
How do I make a booking and secure my place?
A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your place. The deposit can be transferred to another departure date if requested at least 90 days before the trip. Full payment is due 90 days prior to departure for most tours.
What is your cancellation policy?
- More than 90 days before departure: full refund minus deposit.
- 80–90 days: 50% refund minus deposit.
- Less than 70 days: trip is non-refundable.
We recommend taking out cancellation insurance to cover unforeseen events.
Will I encounter extreme weather during treks?
Weather in the Atlas Mountains and Sahara varies significantly. Mountain mornings and evenings can be cold, while desert days are hot. Guides provide daily updates and adjust itineraries as needed for safety.
Do you offer vegetarian or special dietary options?
Yes! We provide meals suited to vegetarian diets and can accommodate allergies or special dietary requirements if informed in advance.
How do I prepare physically for a trek in Morocco?
Light to moderate physical fitness is recommended. Short hikes or stair climbing before your trip helps, especially for multi-day treks like Toubkal or extended Atlas Valley hikes. Our guides adjust pace for all fitness levels.
What cultural experiences can I expect on your trips?
Beyond trekking, you’ll visit Berber villages, experience traditional Moroccan cuisine, see kasbahs and ksars, and interact with local communities. Each trek blends adventure with cultural immersion to give a complete Moroccan experience.
