Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Asni – Imlil – Toubkal Base Camp
Pick up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech and drive to Imlil, the main trailhead of the Toubkal Massif. Meet your Berber team, guide, and cook, then begin trekking along the Mizane Valley. Pass through Aremd village and the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, enjoying the stunning mountain views and terraced landscapes. Continue your ascent to Toubkal Refuge (3,207 m) for overnight stay. Walking time: approx. 4–5 hours.
Day 2: Twin Peaks of Ouanoukrim (4,089 m)
Today, you will ascend the Ouanoukrim twin peaks, the second and third highest peaks in the High Atlas. Located at the head of the Mizane Valley, these peaks provide an excellent acclimatization trek for Toubkal. Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys while experiencing moderate snow and ice trekking conditions. Return to the refuge for lunch and rest. This trek helps your body adapt to the altitude and mountain environment.
Day 3: Toubkal Winter Climb (4,167 m)
An early start takes you on the summit attempt of Jbel Toubkal, Northern Africa’s highest peak. The route crosses snowfields and rocky ridges, requiring care in winter conditions. While the ascent is moderately challenging, the reward is spectacular: views extending from the Marrakech Plain in the north to the Anti-Atlas Mountains and the Sahara in the south. After enjoying the summit vistas, descend carefully back to Toubkal Refuge for overnight stay.
Day 4: Imlil – Marrakech
After breakfast at the refuge, descend the valley back to Imlil. Here, your vehicle will be waiting for the transfer back to Marrakech, concluding the winter adventure in the High Atlas Mountains.
