Mount Toubkal Ascend
At 4,167 meters, Mount Toubkal is the highest peak in North Africa and one of Morocco’s most iconic trekking destinations. Located in the heart of the High Atlas Mountains, this 4-day Toubkal trek offers an unforgettable combination of adventure, culture, and breathtaking mountain scenery.
The ascent of Mount Toubkal is physically challenging but does not require technical mountaineering experience. With the support of an experienced local guide and mule team, trekkers are rewarded with spectacular panoramic views stretching from the Marrakech Plain to the Anti-Atlas and, on clear days, toward the Sahara Desert.
Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil
After arrival in Marrakech, you will be transferred to the picturesque mountain village of Imlil, the main trekking base in the High Atlas. Nestled at the foot of Mount Toubkal, Imlil offers stunning views, terraced fields, and traditional Berber homes.
You’ll have time to explore the village, meet your guide, and prepare for the trek. Overnight in a comfortable local guesthouse.
Day 2: Imlil – Sidi Chamarouch – Toubkal Refuge (3,206m)
Today we begin our trek into the High Atlas Mountains. The trail follows the Mizane Valley, passing through the Berber village of Aremd before reaching the sacred shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, a pilgrimage site for locals.
From here, the path climbs steadily along mule tracks through rocky terrain. As we gain altitude, the landscape becomes increasingly alpine. By afternoon, we arrive at the Toubkal Refuge (3,206m), where we rest and prepare for summit day.
Approx. 4–5 hours of walking.
Day 3: Jebel Toubkal Summit (4,167m) – Imlil – Marrakech
An early start for summit day. We ascend toward the summit of Jebel Toubkal, following the southern cirque above the refuge. The route is non-technical but demanding due to altitude and scree underfoot.
After 4–5 hours of climbing, we reach the summit. The reward is an incredible 360° panorama—views over the High Atlas peaks, the Marrakech Plain, the Anti-Atlas, and, in clear conditions, the Sahara Desert.
After time on the summit, we descend back to the refuge, continue down to Imlil, and transfer to Marrakech in the evening.
Approx. 8–9 hours of trekking.
Day 4: Marrakech
Spend your final hours in Marrakech at leisure—exploring the medina, shopping in the souks, or relaxing before your departure. Transfer to the airport or your next destination.
