Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil

After arriving in Marrakech, you will be transferred to the peaceful mountain village of Imlil, located in the heart of the High Atlas Mountains. This charming village is the main gateway for trekking in the Toubkal National Park.

Upon arrival, you will have time to explore the surrounding area, meet your trekking team, and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Imlil offers beautiful views of terraced fields, walnut groves, and traditional Berber houses built into the mountainside.

In the evening, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner and spend the night in a comfortable local guesthouse or mountain lodge.

Optional Experiences

This trek can be combined with additional activities such as:

  • Visiting nearby Berber villages
  • A Sahara Desert trip
  • Moroccan cooking class
  • Camel ride in Asni before returning to Marrakech
  • Extending your stay in our Imlil guesthouse (35€ per night for 2 people, dinner included)
Day 2: Imlil – Toubkal Refuge

Today your trekking adventure truly begins. After breakfast, you start walking through the beautiful Mizane Valley.

The trail passes through the village of Aremd, one of the largest settlements in the valley, offering a glimpse into traditional Berber mountain life. From here, the path continues towards the sacred shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, an important spiritual site visited by both pilgrims and travelers.

After crossing the river and climbing steadily along mule trails, the landscape becomes more rugged and alpine. The trail gradually ascends to the Toubkal Refuge at 3,206 meters, where you will spend the night.

Approximate walking time: 4–5 hours

Day 3: Toubkal Summit – Return to Imlil – Marrakech

An early start is essential today as you begin your ascent toward the summit of Mount Toubkal.

The trail climbs steeply through the southern cirque above the refuge. Although the route is technically straightforward, the altitude and loose scree make the ascent physically challenging. However, the breathtaking scenery and sense of achievement make every step worthwhile.

Upon reaching the summit at 4,167 meters, you will be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views stretching from the Marrakech plains in the north to the Anti-Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert in the south.

After spending time at the summit for photos and rest, you descend back to the refuge before continuing down to Imlil. From there, a transfer will take you back to Marrakech.

Approximate walking time: 8–9 hours

Day 4: Marrakech

Spend your final hours in Marrakech, exploring the vibrant medina, visiting local markets, or relaxing in a traditional café before your departure.

This marks the end of your Toubkal trekking adventure.
