This unforgettable 6-day trekking adventure combines the ascent of Mount Toubkal (4,167 m) with scenic walks through traditional Berber villages in the heart of the High Atlas Mountains.
Starting from Marrakech, the journey takes you across remote mountain passes, lush valleys, and authentic Berber settlements where traditional lifestyles have remained unchanged for generations.
Along the route you will experience spectacular mountain landscapes, welcoming local hospitality, and breathtaking views from the summit of Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. The trek also offers the chance to explore beautiful valleys such as the Ourika Valley, including the charming village of Setti Fadma, known for its river and scenic waterfalls.
This trek perfectly combines cultural discovery, mountain adventure, and some of the most spectacular scenery Morocco has to offer.

Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Imi Oughlad – Tacht Pass – Tizi Oussem
After an early breakfast in Marrakech, we travel by private vehicle for approximately 1.5 hours to the Berber village of Imi Oughlad (1,400 m). Here we meet our trekking crew, including the cook, muleteers, and mules that will accompany us during the journey.
The trek begins with a gradual ascent toward Tizi n’Tacht Pass (2,100 m). After reaching the pass, we enjoy our first mountain lunch with beautiful views over the surrounding valleys.
The trail then descends through several small Berber villages before reaching Tizi Oussem, where we spend the night in a traditional mountain guesthouse (gîte).

Day 2: Tizi Oussem – M’Zik Pass – Aremd Village
After breakfast we continue trekking through a peaceful valley with spectacular views of shepherd settlements and terraced fields.
We reach the impressive Cascades d’Irhoulidene, a series of beautiful waterfalls hidden deep in the mountains. After a rest we climb steadily toward Tizi M’Zik Pass (2,489 m), where panoramic views stretch across the High Atlas.
Descending from the pass, we head toward Aremd, one of the largest Berber villages in the valley. Here we enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a traditional guesthouse.

Day 3: Aremd – Sidi Chamharouch – Toubkal Refuge
Today we begin the approach toward the Toubkal base camp. The trail climbs gradually along the valley floor before reaching the sacred shrine of Sidi Chamharouch (2,350 m).
After a break with traditional Moroccan mint tea, we continue trekking along the valley toward the Toubkal Refuge (3,207 m), which serves as the base camp for the summit climb.
Dinner and overnight at the refuge.

Day 4: Toubkal Summit – Return to Aremd
Today is the highlight of the trek: the ascent of Mount Toubkal.
We start very early in the morning to climb toward the summit at 4,167 meters. The trail ascends through rocky terrain and high mountain slopes, but the spectacular views make the effort worthwhile.
From the summit, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views across the High Atlas Mountains, the Marrakech plains, and even the distant Sahara Desert on clear days.
After celebrating at the summit and taking photos, we descend back to the refuge before continuing down through the valley to Aremd village.

Day 5: Aremd – Tamatert Pass – Tinerhourhine
After breakfast we leave Aremd and descend toward Imlil, the main trekking hub of the region.
From here the trail climbs toward Tamatert Pass (2,280 m), offering impressive views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
We then descend into the Imnane Valley, known for its picturesque Berber villages and terraced agriculture.
Overnight stay in a local guesthouse in Tinerhourhine.

Day 6: Tinerhourhine – Imi Oughlad – Marrakech
On the final day we walk along the scenic Imnane Valley, passing through traditional Berber villages including Ikkis, Amssakrou, and Imsker.
After crossing the small mountain pass Tizi n’Lbour, we return to Imi Oughlad where our trek ends.
Following lunch, we transfer by private vehicle back to Marrakech where you can enjoy a well-earned rest after your mountain adventure.
