Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Asni – Imlil – Aroumd (Aremd) Berber Village
Your private adventure begins with a 9:00 AM departure from Marrakech, driving approximately 1.5 hours through the scenic Moulay Brahim Gorges. Depending on the day, you may pass by the bustling Asni weekly market before reaching Imlil (1,740 m), the gateway to the Toubkal Massif.
Upon arrival, enjoy a welcome glass of mint tea and meet your local guide. The trek then begins along scenic mule tracks heading south toward the traditional Berber village of Aroumd (1,843 m). Along the way, you’ll pass small hamlets and witness the stark peaks of the Western High Atlas, including Jbel Aguelzim (3,547 m), Aksouâl (3,847 m), and Adrar Adj (3,122 m).
The trek involves moderate ascents and descents, offering breathtaking views of valleys, waterfalls, and rugged peaks. Overnight is spent at a comfortable guesthouse in Imlil, such as Chez Maachou Guest House, where you can rest and enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner.
Day 2: Tizi n’ Tamaterte (2,279 m) – Return to Marrakech
The second day begins with a trek along winding mountain paths toward the Tizi n’ Tamaterte pass (2,279 m). From here, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding Atlas Mountains, including Jbel Oukaimeden and the surrounding plateaus.
After reaching the lunch spot overlooking the spectacular mountain scenery, the trek continues down through the Imlil valley, following well-marked paths past traditional Berber villages and terraced fields.
