This beautiful 3-day trekking adventure connects two of the most scenic valleys in the High Atlas Mountains, starting from Imlil and ending in the picturesque Setti Fadma in the Ourika Valley.

Along the way, you will cross spectacular mountain passes, walk through traditional Berber villages, and experience authentic mountain life that has remained unchanged for generations. The route passes ancient houses made of stone and mud, terraced fields, and peaceful valleys where locals continue their daily agricultural traditions.

The trek also offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks of the High Atlas and the chance to discover the rich culture and hospitality of the Berber communities living in these remote mountain regions.

With a bit of luck, travelers may even spot wild Barbary macaque, one of the rare monkey species native to the mountains of Morocco.

This short but rewarding trek is perfect for travelers who want to combine nature, culture, and authentic local experiences in the Atlas Mountains.

Itinerary

Day 1: Imlil – Imenane Valley – Tizi n’Tamatert – Ouaneskra Village

Your trek begins in the mountain village of Imlil (1,740 m), the main starting point for many treks in the High Atlas Mountains.

From here, the trail climbs steadily toward the beautiful Tizi n’Tamatert Pass (2,279 m). After reaching the pass, you will enjoy a relaxing lunch with stunning views over the surrounding mountains and valleys.

The route then continues into the picturesque Imnane Valley, passing traditional Berber settlements and terraced fields.

The day ends in Ouaneskra or nearby Tacheddirt, where you spend the night in a traditional Berber guesthouse (gîte).

Approximate walking time: 5–6 hours

Day 2: Tacheddirt – Tizi n’Labbassen – Timichi

After breakfast, the trek continues deeper into the mountains toward the high pass of Tizi n’Labbassen (3,172 m).

This section of the trek offers spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and valleys of the High Atlas. The climb is challenging but extremely rewarding for mountain lovers.

After reaching the pass and enjoying the scenery, the trail descends gradually toward the quiet mountain villages of Timichi and Ibbasen.

Dinner and overnight stay in a traditional Berber guesthouse.

Day 3: Timichi – Setti Fadma (Ourika Valley)

On the final day, the trail continues through a series of charming Berber villages including Tiourdou, Anfli, Tadrart, and Chiker.

As you descend gradually into the Ourika Valley, the scenery changes to greener landscapes with rivers, orchards, and terraced fields.

After lunch along the route, the trek continues toward Setti Fadma, a lively village known for its waterfalls and beautiful mountain surroundings.

From here, transportation will take you back to Marrakech, marking the end of your trekking adventure.
