This trek offers diverse landscapes, non-technical peaks, and unforgettable encounters with local people, all set against the backdrop of towering mountains, verdant valleys, and rocky summits. It’s a perfect journey for travelers who want authentic culture, stunning scenery, and active adventure in Morocco.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Marrakech Arrival
Upon arrival at Marrakech, our team will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Spend the afternoon exploring the vibrant streets, souks, and gardens of Marrakech while awaiting other participants.
Day 2 – Marrakech – Imlil – Tachdirt
After breakfast, drive through Asni to reach Imlil, the principal trailhead for the trek. Meet the mule team and begin walking along the Mizane Valley toward Tachdirt, passing the pass at Tizi n’Tamaterte (2,279m) and the village of Ouanskra. Arrive at Tachdirt (3,000m) and camp near the river.

Day 3 – Tachdirt – Azib Likkemt
Trek through the valley and begin a long ascent to the Tizi Likkemt Pass (3,555m), navigating loose scree. Enjoy panoramic views of the Toubkal massif before descending to Azib Likkemt for an overnight camp.
Walking: Moderate to challenging
Day 4 – Azib Likkemt – Tizi n’Ourai – Amsouzart
Today offers a mix of gentle trekking and breathtaking scenery. From Tizi n’Ourai (3,120m), admire the Toubkal East Face and Ifni Dome (3,876m). Descend to Amsouzart, one of the most striking Berber villages in the region, and spend the night in a simple gite.

Day 5 – Amsouzart – Ifni Lake
Explore surrounding villages en route to Ifni Lake, the only lake in the massif. Relax by its serene shores, surrounded by rocky peaks. Camp nearby for the night.

Day 6 – Ifni Lake – Nelter Hut
Prepare for a challenging ascent along steep scree paths to Tizi n’Ouanoums Pass (3,664m). From the pass, descend via zigzag trails to Nelter Hut, a mountain refuge, or camp outside.
Walking: Strenuous, high-altitude trekking
Day 7 – Mount Toubkal Summit – Imlil – Marrakech
Depart before dawn for the summit of Jebel Toubkal (4,167m). Enjoy 360° views across the High Atlas, Marrakech Plains, and distant Anti-Atlas and Sahara Desert. Descend via Sidi Chamharouch and Aremd, following the Mizane River to Imlil. Transfer back to Marrakech for your final night.
Walking: Strenuous, 6–8 hours
Day 8 – Marrakech Departure
According to your flight schedule, transfer to the airport. Your guide will assist with check-in and formalities, leaving you with lasting memories of Morocco’s mountains, culture, and landscapes.
