Day 1 MARRAKECH - HIGH ATLAS - TELOUAT - AIT BEN HADDOU - OUARZAZATE

Pickup by 8:30 from your Riad or Hotel and departure to the High Atlas Tizi n´Tichka port (2,260 m high) where we will make several stops to admire a stunning vies where we can make beautiful photos. Continue our way through a small road where you have the chance to see a beautiful countryside with a huge chromatic diversity, to the village of Telouat, visit its Kasbah and have lunch in a typical restaurant in the village. In the afternoon we continue our trip through several Berber villages where the families live in adobe houses lost in the mountains. We take our time to see the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, visit its famous Kasbah (Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO). In this spectacular setting several films have been shot, movies like Gladiator, Obelix, Sahara , starring by Penelope Cruz… After visiting the Kasbah we drive to Ouarzazate, which is known as the great entrance to the desert. Dinner and night at Hotel.

Breakfast and departure to the Valley of Roses through the palm grove of Skoura where begins a road dotted with varied Kasbahs. After several stops, we arrive at one of the big famous landmarks of the South: The Todra Gorges. The Todra river bed has formed walls of enormous proportions and great beauty. Unique climber’s paradise. Lunch at a restaurant in the gorges and follow to the desert to reach the amazing dunes of Merzouga. After taking the welcoming tea and leave your luggage in the rooms, we will climb the dunes and enjoy watching a wonderful sunset. Then at the hotel we have the chance to have a nice chat to understand and learn more about desert´s life. Dinner and Berber music show with drums and castanets. Accommodation at the lodge.
We are already in the desert so we will have a plentiful and wealthy breakfast to have a round in the Erg Chebbi where the Great Dune of Morocco is, over 250 meters high. We follow on a track followed by the Paris-Dakar where from we will see the Algeria´s border mountains. Stop at the oasis of Tissardmin and continue the route to a nomad settlement to know some of the secrets of their lives. Later we stop at a privilege point where we can contemplate the whole Erg Chebbi. Later we reach Khamlia, “The black people village” where the inhabitants are descendants of the slave trade, where we will relax with a cup of tea while enjoying a small concert of spiritual Gnawa music. Return to the lodge, lunch at 16:00 pm and depart in a camel caravan to the camps (approximately 1h) we will enjoy the sunset and stretch our legs a bit before reaching the Haimas. At the arrival we offer you a welcoming tea, as usual, before dinner and take the chance to climb the dunes and enjoy the peace and the silence. Sleep in the Haima under a blanket of stars in the desert´s heart.
We wake up before dawn to watch the sunrise from the big Dune. Back to the hotel we have a shower and breakfast. Early departure to Rissani and visit the city considered the Alaouite dynasty cradle. Its market is considered the largest in the South, where many desert nomads come shopping. We will leave the desert and cross the arid and interesting landscapes until we reach the Draa Valley, named after the river, longest and richest valley of Morocco that goes over the entire south. We will continue our journey to Zagora, current administrative center of the area where in ancient times caravans departed to Timbuktu (very important commercial center of Mali) on a long camel journey that lasted 52 days. Dinner and night at the Hotel.
After breakfast we see the famous cartel that shows the “52 days to Timbuktu jorney”. Then we follow on our way to the Anti Atlas to reach Ouarzazate and to visit the Kasbah Taourirt the Tifoultoute and the Film Studies . Departure to Marrakech crossing the Tizi N’Tichka, and stop for lunch at a restaurant in the mountains. Later we visit the Argan oil cooperative where we will discover whole process and we will learn about the many benefits that this product has on the human body. We finish the day in Marrakech and enjoy a free night walking the Jamaa el Fna square and dinner in the typical stalls that fill the square. Accommodation in a riad
