We depart Marrakech this morning to transfer to Barrage Amizmiz near the high Atlas chain. We visit the souk of Lala Takerkoust and meet local mule drivers. We start walking in the small hills for a tour, crossing farms set beside tiny fields of corn, maize and olives trees before arriving at our Berber house.
We start walking in the foothills of the high Atlas, passing near the forest area of Tizgui village hanging at an impressive height of 1600m of altitude. The panoramic view on the Haouz plain is amazing. In the afternoon we travel along the mule tracks through a small pine forest to reach Aït Ahmed village.
Our journey takes us to Imin’Tala, overhanging Amezmiz river with villages made of earth and stone. Here we see the craftsmanship that resulted in terraces and irrigation channels being built into the earth, and nature and practical needs co-exist in harmony.
Crossing a pass of 1800m, we come to Jbel Allaghine via a small path in a peaceful pine forest, with spectacular views on the snowy High Atlas summits. Down on the Tnirt village, after a small climb up, we reach the Lamdinate valley. From here we meet our local transport in Azgour village and head back to Marrakech, For our last night we stay in a traditional Riad, a Moroccan house with an interior garden.
There may be time to visit the legendary Jamaa El Fna square, depending on flight times. Transfer to the airport.
