Our one-day trip to Imlil offers a great opportunity to get close to nature and even closer to understanding and enjoying the fascinating Berber way of life.
Trekking, fresh air, mountain trails and mint tea all contribute to a refreshing day out in the Moroccan countryside.
During this Day Trip you will Discover real Berber village life
Visited area : Imlil village is located at 70 km from Marrakech its part of the Ait Mizane Trib situated bellow the Toubkal mountain, the last step before the ascent of Toubkal, Imlil is known as the departure point of treks as well. After we attend the Berber village of Asni, we take the left way to reach Imlil. From here either you walk around the village or take a mule for a short trek to get the ancient village of Mezik and Arghen where you can have lunch and enjoy the view on green Terraces and Agdals .
Your Lunch is a leisurely local affair, taken in a typical Berber village guesthouse , enjoying a homemade three course meal of Moroccan salad, couscous with lamb or perhaps a tasty vegetable tagine, fresh seasonal fruits and tea. After lunch you have time to discover more of the village and gaze at the views of Jebel Toubkal at 4167m which dominate the horizon.

Trip overview :
Only at 64 kilometers from the red city of Marrakech, Imlil is the last step before the ascent of the highest peak in north africa Toubkal and the departure of many walks. Toubkal is the highest mountain peak in North Africa ascending at 4167 m / 13671 ft.
After crossing the gorge of Asni, a picturesque village known for its weekly souk on Saturday, the road continues along a green valley where the mountains and impressive natural bastions, play with colors.
In the village there are the old kasbahs overlooking the valley. Further down towards Moulay Brahim, the Kik plateau appears the gorgeous Lake Takerkoust, a special Sunday visit site for many Marrakchi families,
Details of the Day Trip to Imlil
Departure from Marrakech at 9:00 . Stop at Asni to visit the souk on Saturday (depending on the day of the week, visit Moulay Brahim) and further more to Imlil. Opportunity to ride a mule during 1 hours and a half, direction of the Kasbah, the waterfalls and back on the village nestled in the hills of Imlil.
Traditional lunch in a berber House overlooking the surrounding villages and the wadi. Back to Asni road then Marrakech in late afternoon

Trek itinerary :
This Popular trek includes Mount Toubkal ascent 4167M and walks past several ancient Berber villages with a more detailed view on one village chosen according to personal preference. Besides wonderful views from the Toubkal Mountain, the green Ourika valley (Setti Fadma village) with a river cutting it in half is another hidden gem of this walk. The trek continues up to Tacheddirt pass (3200 m) offering a view over the majority of the Atlas summits. The adjacent village of the same name lies in the heart of Imnane valley where most of the trekking routes start. It leads over the Tizi Mzik (2500 m) and Toubkal National park with the Tamsoult waterfalls. The hike up the highest North African peak is just a cherry on top and a nice ending to the whole trek.
Day 1: Ourika valley – Setti Fadma (1600 m)– Timichi (2000 m)
Day 2: Timichi (2000 m)– Iaabassene (2030m) – Tacheddirt (2400 m)
Day 3: Tacheddirt (2400 m)– Imnane valley or tacheddirt valley – Agersioual pass (2100 m)– Imlil (1740 m).
Day 4: Imlil (1740 m) – Tizi Mzik (2500 m) – Azib n’Tamsoult
Day 5: Azib n’Tamsoult – Aguelzim pass (3650 m)– Toubkal refuge (3207 m)
Day 6: Toubkal refuge – Toubkal summit (4167 m) – Armed (2000 m) – Imlil (1740 m)
The 3 Valleys Trek in the Atlas Mountains
When trekking the 3 Valleys, you will begin in the Imnan Valley and finish in the valley of Ait Mizan. As you head through the visually stunning Azzaden Valley, full of colour and life, you will come to the Tazagahrt plateau, known for its amazing waterfalls.
Your trek through this striking area of the world will only take you 3 days in total, but can be extended or altered to accommodate you and your group. Should you wish to make any alterations to your adventure then do not hesitate to contact Brahim and Mohamed to discuss your options.
All treks are led and supervised by qualified and experienced guides and mule handlers, drawn from the local populace.
Day 1: Imlil – Tizi n’Tamaterte – Tachddirt
The first day is 5-6 hours walking and will take you from Imlil (1740m), to Tizi n’ Tamterte (2300m), to Tachdirt. There will be lunch on the pass after Tizi n’ Tamaterte before you head to the last village, Tachdirt or Tinghourine, and spend the night in a guesthouse.
Day 2: Tinghourin/Tachddirt-Ikkis-Aguersiwal-Matat-Ait Aissa
The second day will bring you 6-7 hours of trekking and take you from Tinghourine/Tachdirt to Ikkis, Aguersiwal (2100m) and to Matat to Ait Aissa. The route takes you by other picturesque villages and along the Oudit Pass (2200m). In the evening in the Ait Aissa, there is a gite to stay in and a steam bath (hamam) if you would like to use it.
Day 3: Ait Aissa/Tizi Oussem-Imlil
The third day is 6hours will take us first to visit the beggest waterfalls in the Toubkal National park ,then join the path that goes over Mzik pass 2500m with fantastic view over the Ait Mizan valley, lunch in Mzzik and trek dwon to imlil, end of trek and transfer to Marrakech.
